Parking Issues Generally in Truro

Truro

Since before the pandemic we have lost 50% of our car park spaces in Truro. This is a real issue, and although before taking away the Pydar car park, and Moorefield becoming out of action not all spaces were used very often. It's left us with nowhere near enough spaces for Truro to function efficiently. Even on a non-busy day, the car parks are already full. Not enough people are using the park and rides, and there probably is room for more people to use public transport. However, we need to look at increasing the number of spaces in Truro. Moorfield Car Park will not reopen, there is more than one report that says it will be dangerous to do so and there is not any viable option to repair it that would give enough spaces to make it worthwhile.

Updates

We have had several meetings with top officers and the transport portfolio holder. We are looking at options for next year, but it's very early days. They are fully aware of the problem, and I am putting as much pressure on as possible. As soon as I have some news to share, I will share it. Fingers crossed, there will be some news soon.
